PSAA-Central Indiana Chapter - Minutes 6/11/2006

Treasurer’s Report-Katie
   ·$7027.90-includes scholarship and club money.
   ·Does not include checks she has currently.

Payment for ND tickets due today-will discuss @ end 2nd tier of those who can get tickets.

Howard Young provided a check for $518 from the Big Ten Golf Tournament-this to scholarship fund.

20 tickets for ND- will see who has paid and possibly do a drawing for the remaining.

Purdue-35 tickets
   ·Price to include bus trip and tailgate.
   ·Will investigate ways to get other tickets.
   ·Eric Brandt offered to organize the Central Indiana Tailgate.

Viewing Parties
   ·Currently @ Damon’s with 15-35 people per game.
   ·Possibly BW-3
   ·Majority of those present are from the North Side, so Central or North location
   ·MUST allow kids-will probably be non-smoking.
   ·Committee-Eric, Matt, and Tim
   ·Be sure to give address and zip, so people can search for map.

College Fairs-Fall
   ·6-8 PM usually.
   ·Have been to Mooresville, Ben Davis, Lawrence Central, and Shelby County.
   ·Most common question, “Where is Penn State?”
   ·Need 2 volunteers/school, PSU provides all the info
     ·Volunteers to Pam.

Membership-James Vachon volunteered
   ·Sends info to new alum in the area-list available twice a year.
   ·Club will reimburse expenses such as postage

Charity Events-Tim Meta
   ·One of the 7 criteria to get football tickets.
   ·Previously-Indy Reads, Humane Society, Phonathon, golf tournament
   ·Ed offered to help.

Phonathon-Marissa couldn’t be here.
   ·Unsure if volunteers needed.

Newsletter/Website
   ·Newsletter in Sept-Dues due then.
   ·Emails
   ·Eric offered to help.
   ·Website-search “Penn State Alumni Central Indiana”

Scholarship-typically $1000
   ·3 incoming freshman and 6 returning students-must submit essays
   ·Website says 3 are available, but think 1-2 more appropriate for the number of students in the area.
   ·Motion made to rename the fund “Gail Paluka Scholarship Fund”
   ·Howard seconded the motion.
   ·Motion passed.

Chuck asked if credit for scholarship donations could be given for tax purposes
   ·Martin offered to look into this.

Directory asked for
   ·Ed states he has the info, but PSU wants to be sure it is not used inappropriately.
   ·“Preferred list” discussed-perhaps a hard copy.
   ·Will add to membership form-ask if want to be included.

Ray-owns a software company and offered assistance.

Next meeting
   ·Sept 23-before Ohio State due to the expected attendance
       ·Will meet 1 hour before the game.
